Awesome Cover Art in MG literature: The Kneebone Boy-Can You Say "Delicious"?

I ran across this cover months ago, in the Fall. It immediately captivated me. Who are these children? What is their story? And that cat! That sassy look on his face, his toes--he has eight of them. And, if you look closely enough, he has an extra leg...ugh! Let's not forget, there's someone sitting above in the tree. What's going on with that? I've heard, that the blond boy is based on a real guy that the author had a crush on in high school...ooh...

The cover is dark, Gothic and beautiful. I want to know about the artist as much as the story itself. The artist has signed the cover, but it's so faint, I can't read it. I had to get this book. And I did--or the ARC that is. And believe me, the story is just as awesome. The Kneebone Boy releases in mid September. I'll be reviewing it and possibly doing a giveaway. Stay tuned...

Toodles!

  2. You can bet that's a book I would pluck off the shelf! The cover is beautiful, and I love ones that are intricate enough to follow the contents of the story (as opposed to the billion+ novels that look like the House of Night series).

  3. Hey Jill. I love that you didn't even notice aspects of it! That's what makes it so awesome. You really have to study it to catch all it's elements. I didn't even realize the cat had a third leg until I read it in the story! Ha!

You betcha October!(Sound familiar...lol...) How could you not pick this book up. You have to. I know how you feel about the average YA cover. The Kneebone boy is as far away from that as can be.

Thanks for stopping in guys. Love you for that!

  7. I know they say you can't judge a book by it's cover, but this one looks awesome. I am adding it to my to-read list based on the cover alone.

  9. Totally agree - the cover for this one is spectacular! And the first paragraph totally hooked me, too. Hilarious and dark at the same time - what a wonderful combination!
