2013 Remake |
Well...First, I didn't realize how much of the original movie I forgot. It took me a while to get the gist of the story because I could only remember the main scenes from the original which focused on one guy. I didn't remember how the story started or who else was even in it beyond the fellow and the demons! Lol...So...getting up to speed on the story held my interest---for a while. Let me tell you, Evil Dead 2013 doesn't even come close to the original. It didn't have that creepy something's-about-to-get-you-but-you-don't-know-when-or-where-or-how sensibility that had you on the edge of your seat with the original.
1981 Original |
Evil Dead 2013 did win first place at the box office that week. *shaking my head* Go figure. I guess the kids love that yucky kind of stuff...but I did see a few people walk out...
1981 Original |
Go and see it at your own peril...lol...Better yet, check out the original. It's scary movie making at its best.
Toodles!
Not my cup of tea but do love Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis and the 20 year anniversary movie Halloween H20 where she is main character with a grown teenage son. Even 20 years later Michael Meyers creeped me out and the movie did not depend on gore but good plot and actual acting.
ReplyDeleteJune have you ever watched Red Dawn, we just rented the one released last year with "Thor" actor Chris Hensworth playing lead of Jed made famous by Patrick Swayze. We also rented Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp as we missed it at theatre as well.
Jackie, if you like Halloween, I think you'll like the original Evil Dead--they're the same genre, but Evil may be more bloody...lol...I love Halloween too, but I didn't see the H2O version. And no, I haven't seen Red Dawn--neither the original or the remake! Loved the Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp. The TV show scared me to death as a kid.
DeleteBarnabas Collin's was my favorite Vampire as a teen, as Dark Shadows reruns was my favorite show when I found it. Best Johnny Depp movie for us we have seen is a psychological thriller starring him as a single dad and Christopher Walken is the bad guy. It is "Nick of Time" and if I ever find it will grab a copy.
ReplyDeleteChristopher Walken always plays the weirdo! Lol...I've never heard of Nick of Time. If it's on Netflix, I'm gonna check it out. Thx!
DeleteWow...this s a sed of you I have never seen!
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee...you'd better watch your back, Patty cake! Ha ha ha...
Deleteyou can expect every move in evil dead 2013, it looses the surprise, thriller and suspense kind of matter.. its nothing compared to the old movie, i love the old version of evil dead:)..
ReplyDeleteI agree, psc. Totally. It's very predictable. Ridiculously so.
