Phillipa Gregory fans! Get a copy of her newest paperback: The Lady of the Rivers. Two winners for this one!

Phillipa Gregory is arguably the queen of English historical fiction. If you haven't read it, I'm sure you've seen or heard of the movie adapted from her book, The Other Boleyn Girl.

In The Lady of the Rivers (On-sale April 3, 2012; $16.00; 978-1-4165-6371-6), now in paperback, this #1 New York Times bestselling author masterfully weaves passion, adventure, and witchcraft into the story of Jacquetta, Duchess of Bedford, who would survive two reigns and two wars to become the first lady at the rival courts of both Lancaster and York.

When Jacquetta is married to the Duke of Bedford, English regent of France, he introduces her to a mysterious world of learning and alchemy. Her only friend in the great household is the duke’s squire Richard Woodville, who is at her side when the duke’s death leaves her a wealthy young widow. The two become lovers and marry in secret, returning to England to serve at the court of the young King Henry VI, where Jacquetta becomes a close and loyal friend to his new queen.

The Woodvilles soon achieve a place at the very heart of the Lancaster court, though Jacquetta can sense the growing threat from the people of England and the danger of their royal York rivals. As Jacquetta fights for her king and her queen, she can see an extraordinary and unexpected future for her daughter Elizabeth: a change of fortune, the throne of England, and the white rose of York. . . .

If you'd like an opportunity to be one of the two winners to receive a copy of this book, tell me why you like historical fiction. Can you name any Phillipa Gregory books you've read? That is all. Don't forget to include your email!

The  Giveaway is open to residents of the US and Canada. It ends Saturday, April 7, 2012.

My thanks to Kaitlyn of Simon & Schuster, Inc for making this giveaway possible.

  1. Even though I write contemporary YA, I like historical romance because it's what my mom always read and shared with me, so there are a lot of good memories associated with it.

The Other Bolyn Girl is probably my favorite of Phillipa Gregory's.

  6. I like historical fiction because it's like time traveling--getting to learn about a place and time as if I was there. I've read all of Phillipa Gregory's books about Henry VIII's wives, starting with The Other Boleyn Girl.
